This is a really fun beginner friendly or project guitar. The body is a wavy SG type and it functions just as solidly as a regular SG. The neck is great and very playable, wonderful for smaller hands. Guitar holds a tuning well, can be easily change From standard to D with very little fuss. It's pretty. Very little fret buzz and intonates well. The electronics are solid, it comes with a three-way switch and no line hum. The stock pickups are lovely, they aren't too hot or soft.

You are good to go out of the box. But, there's room to upgrade the tuning pegs, the pots, dials, pickups and so on. This is a very respectable instrument. It would be great as most anyone's first guitar.

It is a wonderful practice or project guitar. You will have a difficult time beating it for the price.
It is light and fun to play.

Checked out the reviews of the Racer and they were all fairly positive so I picked one up as a mod platform, as I had a bunch of parts kicking around and I really liked the look and base specs of the Racer.

Really impressed with this guitar. I've owned hundreds over the years. I'm not going to sit here and say that this thing is leaps and bounds better than my PRSs; it's not. However, for the price point it hits way above its weight.

Fit and finish are really good. Fretwork is very good, never mind the fact they're stainless. Out of the box it was very playable. Fretboard needed some conditioner but that's not a surprise. Was surprised that it came strung with D'Addarios. Tuners (I've swapped them out for Hipshot lockers out of preference) were smooth and held tune well. Pickups were a definite surprise as they sounded far better than I expected, and they're four conductor so you have lots of options if you like. I've swapped them out for a SH1/SH11 set, but they would have been more than fine. Full size pots with smooth action and proper capacitors (not flimsy film caps). Output jack was decent, swamped it for a Switchcraft.

Structurally the guitar is solid. A few really nice touches like a good size volute at the headstock joint - amazing consideration given the price point.

It's not that the guitar doesn't have issues. The nut is not cut well at all; considering replacing it because the slots are much wider than needed for a 942 or 1046 set. Once i have a final setup is done I'll evaluate whether I need to replace it; I might try a set of 1152 on it first. Shielding in the pickup cavities was spotty at best and the control cover wasn't shielded. Easy enough fix. Tuner screws were over drilled making them a little loose; nothing a toothpick and some glue couldn't fix.

Long story short - if you're looking for a mod base for some fun, the Racer is a great unit to deck out in your preferred hardware and electronics. But if you don't want that, it's am excellent value for beginners as well as gigging musicians.

Ottima chitarra, ben rifinita nel colore nero metallizzato molto bello, manico allineato e perfettamente regolato nella curvatura (non ho avuto bisogno di modificare il truss rod) e dopo la consueta regolazione del ponte e del capotasto (cosa da fare praticamente in tutte le chitarre che escono sempre con slot troppo alti) si arriva ad un ottimo set-up. Tutto e' basilare, dalle meccaniche all'elettronica ai pickup leggermente microfonici (chi smanetta un po' con le chitarre lo mette a posto con un po' di immersione in cera in una serata) ma funzionale. Per chi vuole splittare i pick-up, aprendo l'interno ho notato che sono a 4 fili.

Como otra reseña que he hecho de esta marca de guitarras, es impresionante la calidad de los acabados de este modelo también. Si hay algo mejorable seria el sonido de las pastillas que lleva, que son tal vez un poco microfonicas especialmente la del puente, pero que no están nada mal. No se puede pedir más por este rango de precios. Me encanta!

I've been playing since 1986 and have owned guitars in this price range, all the way up to $4k. Right out of the box, this guitar completely surprised me. 1st, I didn't realize it was neck thru construction, which is a huge bonus. The action was already low and was ready to play after a tune up. I tuned it D-D thinking the pickups would be muddy and had already planned to switch the bridge pickup. Ummm, I think I'll keep the stock pickups in it. I was shocked on how clear and articulate they are. I was playing Obituary, Crue and Ghost and the pickups chugged right along with no muddiness at all.

Next, the electronics were something else I was expecting to switch out. Nope! Full size pots and capacitors. The volume pot rolled back really nicely.

I am also really impressed with the frets. Stainless steel with rolled edges. Honestly, I've bought 1k plus guitars I've had to file down the fret ends. That is always frustrating. The rosewood fretboard feels great and no issues at all with the fretboard.

I wasn't sure what to expect with the tuners and like everything else I thought I'd have to replace...NOPE...guitar stayed in perfect tune after a few minutes of playing. Also, the paint on my Racer looks amazing and literally no flaws at all.

Lastly, for $200 bucks (or other high end guitars), you will be hard pressed to find another guitar this nice. I plan on grabbing a couple more of these as I'm that impressed. Keep up the high quality and don't be afraid to pull the trigger on buying one.
