If you are installing wireless networks using Ubiquiti devices, this book is invaluable.

I have worked with physical networks for some time now, but I am fairly new to planning for and installing wireless networks so I found the coverage of radio frequency properties and challenges; site survey techniques; and wireless protocols and access methods covered in chapters one through three very helpful.

When going over the controller, Kevin's thorough explanation of sections in the controller really helps you configure and optimize the wireless network. Also, throughout his explanations, Kevin provides some really good reasoning behind his configuration recommendations.

Using what I learned in this book I have already installed several wireless networks for clients with a couple of them using wireless bridging devices equipped with airMAX radios. The description of how to configure such devices in chapter six helped in those projects. Those projects only used Point to Point configurations, but I have a project coming up which will use a Point to Multipoint configuration that this book is already providing useful information to help in the planning for that project.

With only 143 pages, I was concerned at first if this book would really be worth the cost or be of any help to me. After reading it and using the information contained in it to configure actual wireless networks for clients, I highly recommend it. I believe Kevin has done a good job providing the greatest amount of useful information without a lot of unnecessary bloat.

Author goes into considerable description of abbreviations, acronyms and general radio physics theory. Otherwise, not worth the money. A lot of obvious cut 'n paste went into this book hence the fuzziness and unreadable screen pictures. It's not that it doesn't have relevant information. It is just not a quality book for its price. I would give it four stars if the price was under $20 because that would be more appropriate for a less expensive book that is so poorly published.

A must buy for the Ubiquiti enthusiast, no where else can you find so much information in one place on a line of products that are tough to find support on. Sure the community forums of ubiquiti are great, this is just a better way of explaining how they work. The author is brilliant.
