This Rhino Deluxe is excellent, I'm not sure where the uneven comments come from though. There's much more variation on the Rhino Deluxe Paper Money, than there is on this one. Ronnie was/is "my guy"🎸, I've owned every version LP, 8-track, CD, and this is by a good margin, the best. Far better tone than even the original LP. For me, it's greater "information" is almost like a new version. The originals had a more....grey, garage-ish sound. No doubt, they still ROCKED, but this is my favorite. The '73 KSAN, not so much. Pretty sure it's the source tape limitations. I actually listened to it broadcast on KSAN, and remember thinking the same thing. The '74 recording (Rhino Deluxe) is definitely higher quality, with serious "in the studio" sound.
One of the best debut albums ever.I was fortunate enough to see Montrose in the U.K when they had released this album.Loved them live and still remember them doing Space Station #5 at the end of the show and leaving the guitar by the amp screaming feedback. The album still stands up today with all the great tracks.
In the early to late seventies there were 2 debut albums that took the world by storm Montrose debut & Van Halen's first album both are so legendary it's difficult to suggest which one is the best now we finally get a deluxe edition newly remastered with some live material i am not quite sure how many concerts were performed with this line up i wouldn't say the live side of the album is well recorded but it's a great snapshot of a band at their peak a must
