The author of Fight Club takes America beyond our darkest dreams in this timely satire.
People pass the word only to those they trust most: Adjustment Day is coming. They’ve been reading a mysterious blue-black book and memorising its directives. They are ready for the reckoning.
In this ingeniously comic work, Chuck Palahniuk’s first novel in four years, he does what he does best: skewer the absurdities in our society. Smug, geriatric politicians hatch a nasty fate for the burgeoning population of young males; working-class men dream of burying the elites; and professors propound theories that offer students only the bleakest future. When it arrives, Adjustment Day inaugurates a new, disunited states.
In this mind-blowing novel, Palahniuk fearlessly makes real the logical conclusion of every separatist fantasy, alternative fact, and conspiracy theory lurking in the American psyche.

Recenzja
An heir to Chuck Palahniuk's most famous novel, Fight Club,Adjustment Day is one of the most ingeniously fucked-up and enticingly original novels to be published this year... Think Will Self, George Orwell, Stephen King and William Burroughs mixed up in a Molotov cocktail. ― attitude
There is more than a mere whiff of Nineteen Eighty-Four and The Purge in Palahniuk’s latest novel, and it could be read as a treatise on contemporary America. ― Irish Times
The Fight Club author ison a mission to offend everyone with his new satire about America… his humour expresses a genuine anger, and that gives his book a crackling energy… This is one of those books that is best enjoyed in a bad mood, when you’re thinking that a good cull is really what the human race needs, although even when feeling quite sunny, I found the glee Palahniuk takes in his Book of Revelation-esque scenario rather infectious. -- Jake Kerridge ― Daily Telegraph
Timely… with crosshairs fixed on the absurdity of both sides of the political divide. Set in contemporary America, the novel seizes hold of dark separatist ideas and drags them to their ultimate conclusion. ― iNews

Chuck writes satire, and transgressive fictiom unlike so many out there.
He achieves total immersion into his off-kilter worlds and characters.
This book is timely and it says a lot that even on the inside dust jacket sleeve Chuck describes himself in a rather Palahnuickian fashion.
No ond is safe from his evaluatory eye and harshly truthful critique. And nor should any one be.
In a time where everything is political and weighted with agenda this book is rather apolitical; and in many ways less about structures and systems and govermental mediocrity and more about the people. That and what leads them into falling into total disenfranchisement, the layers of action born from reaction directly associated with the social climate, where we see them allow themselves to be swayed or eaten up by the hypocrisy under-the-thumb rule and the whole miasma of woe and total global disintegration.
Though centrefold is the American way, its mechanics and ways/sub-structures, the book works as an a whole encapsulation and evaluation on the global scheme of things.
The book is satire at its most ridiculous and by this device it makes it all the more real and highlights thr obvious in such a new archaic fashion it introduces intellectualism to the most mundane of things and how overall its effects are affective; a key, that or, to a lesser extent, a part of the bigger picture; that works its way in great overall ripples making it a bigger contributory factor than one would assume it is.
This book is vapid. Harrowing, hilarious, astoundingly on point, hard hitting, morosely pivotal and needed; and though rather archaic and translucent in its parodies and defining in its satire, its rather a beautifully and inevitably positive message weaved into its narrative/message about religion, politics concerning gender neutrality, sexuality, oppression, racism, and trends and modern day mechanics of systemisations and indoctrination through media and nation occurrences.
Its about the wrongs that are made to make a right, about disorder the final order, transplanting old ideals to a modernist realm to bring itself to its knees in aid of finally rising back up. Through the people and not the minority run/led systems sustained and put in place.
It questions everything political and societal, about acquisitions of thought and mood and progress through deities and public figures and there swell and effect upon the consciousness of their public, whether a faux-pas pass on things or legitimately (in)sincere actions.
Making points through irregularities in prose and narrative to highlight these real life altering moments, thst even this/or that methodology is still going to remain as redundant and regressive to an overall nations reputation and relationship to reality.
A masterpiece and much more.
