O autorze

Homer is a legendary ancient Greek poet, traditionally said to be the author of the two great epics of Greek history: the Iliad and the Odyssey. Both books are considered landmarks in human literature, and Homer is therefore often cited as the starting point of Western literary and historical tradition.

Samuel Butler (1835-1902) was an English novelist, translator, and artist. He is best known for his novel The Way of All Flesh and his translations of Homer's Iliad and Odyssey.

I’ve recently started collecting books and this one caught me by surprise when it arrived as I didn’t expect it to look as good as it did. Thankfully it was also perfectly sealed and in perfect condition. It is so nice and collectible and looks great on the shelf. I may opt to read a paperback version because I want to preserve the collectibility of this one.

This is an absolutely gorgeous book, gold gilt edging, bonded leather cover with silver and orange gilt layers lightly embossed on the cover, it's quite heavy too, the only flaw I find with this edition is that an older Samuel Butler translation in prose rather than a more modern translation like Richmond latimore in lyrics, but nevertheless this was a great buy and at the price an absolute steal.
