The bestselling English translation of the ancient classic of Chinese divination that has inspired millions with its timeless insights into the changing nature of all existence

The I Ching, or Book of Changes, has exerted a living influence in China for thousands of years. Today, it continues to enrich the lives of readers around the world. First set down in the dawn of history as a book of oracles, it grew into a book of wisdom with the inclusion of commentaries on its oracular pronouncements, eventually becoming one of the Five Classics of Confucianism and providing a common source for both Confucianist and Taoist philosophy. This edition of the I Ching is the most authoritative and complete translation available, preserving the spirit of the ancient text while providing a vital key for anyone who seeks to live harmoniously with the immutable law of change.

The book presents the sixty-four hexagrams of the I Ching along with their texts and interpretations in a format especially designed for easy reference. Unlike many editions of the I Ching, it also features the Ten Wings, supplemental writings traditionally ascribed to Confucius that provide indispensable insights into the symbolic structure of the hexagrams and their place in a cosmology where change is the only constant.

With an illuminating foreword by C. G. Jung and an informative introduction by Richard Wilhelm, this beautiful edition of the I Ching shares the essence of wisdom and a true understanding of life.

5,0 z 5 gwiazdek This I Ching Book is A Classic
Opinia napisana w Stanach Zjednoczonych dnia 23 marca 2024
Anyone who is serious about studying the I Ching (Yi Jing) should most definitely have this book in their library. I purchased this book back in 1982 and to this day it is my "go to" when consulting the Yi. Some may find it a bit cryptic, but I see this book as a classic, and the closest English translation to the Mandarin. This Oracle system is over 5,000 years old, but it is very accurate if you take time to understand the manner in which is speaks to you.
I've conducted several workshops using this book and my students have found it to be quite enlightening. The book I purchased in 1982 is a bit worn so having a new one is a fun addition to my collection of I Ching books.

5,0 z 5 gwiazdek Thicker book than expected! Heavy reading required.

I have been called to learn I Ching, and this book has been recommended to be numerous times by friends- and there isn't many photos or reviews on this book itself. I'll start off with saying that the presentation of the book is in decent condition, the cover is a bit tattered but the book itself is in mint condition. I am after the knowledge in this product and so the condition of the book is not that much of a concern or priority.

The second thing to note is this book is actually a hefty read, there is a total of 740 pages (this includes titles, appendages, references and authors comments). I have only begun reading the author's commentary on the writing of this book, and it has been really informative giving a lot of detailed background on the legitimacy and qualifications of the people who have gotten together in putting together this book. The font is fairly small so be prepared to read in a well lit place, and to use a bookmark to help space out each line making it easier on the eyes to focus.

The book was shipping to me quickly without any issues, I am really happy with it and all I have to say now is that I have my work cut out for me in terms of going down this rabbit hole of learning I Ching!

It is absolutely insane how this wonderful book, in both content and presentation, can cost so little. If in doubt and it suits your area of interest, just buy it. You will surely not regret it.
